Position History

Up until now, you have only been able to see the current row of position data. There is a new tab in PEDL, which displays all the rows of PeopleSoft position data. While the tab is called Position History, it will display future and current rows as well. It is called Position History because the majority of rows displayed will be in the past.
Click on the Position History tab, and then type in the number of the position you want to see, then press the Search button. If you don't know the number, you can use the browsing function on the Position Lookup tab to find the number.

You will then see a list of dates.
Click on one of the dates to display the position information on that date. Nothing will display until you choose a date, because the system does not know which dated row you want displayed.

  • These panels display the same information you see on Position Data. Depending upon the dated row you have chosen on the left side, you will see what was active beginning on that date.
  • Any date in 1901 or 1902 is not a data error. These are simply dates that were used during the system implementation to indicate a conversion row.
  • The Time Collection Method and the Pay Rep Group that are displayed are the designations that are active "today", not what was active on the date on that row. In PeopleSoft, these fields do not have a date stored with them, so all that is stored is the current designation.
  • The security is based on the department that currently holds the position. You cannot view information for positions that are not currently within your department.
  • When you type in a position number and press Search, the system finds the position for this panel as well as the Position Incumbent panel. Therefore, if an error message appears, you will actually get two (one for each panel).
