A Note on Icons

The icons which display for Active Jobs and Other Jobs provide useful information and can save you time searching in PEDL. In general, the folder icon indicates that there are jobs inside; double-clicking on it opens the folder. The piece of paper icon indicates that there are no jobs inside. Because PEDL displays data from the PeopleSoft database, it is possible have a search result consisting of a person with no jobs, which would most typically be a student. Examples of the icons as they are used:
This Employee has Active Jobs, but no Other Jobs.
This Employee has no Active Jobs, but does have Other Jobs (that may be terminated, on leave (paid or unpaid) retired, etc.)
This person has neither Active nor Other Jobs. They are affiliated with the university in some way, but do not have jobs in PeopleSoft (such as a student that does not work or have an assistantship).
The paper icon also appears next to each position, but doesn't tell you whether or not there is an incumbent in the position. You must click on the position, and if there is an incumbent, the paper turns into a folder.
