A Note on Navigating in PEDL

PEDL allows you to easily switch back and forth between Employee Lookup and Position Lookup; this means that it is possible to switch back and forth between related Employee/Position data and between unrelated Employee/Position data, which could become confusing. The information below is presented to guide you as you navigate back and forth between Employee Lookup and Position Lookup.

If you have conducted an Employee Lookup (remember, this means that you have clicked on an effective-dated row!) for an employee in your department, PEDL will automatically fill in the Position Lookup panels at the same time, so you can look at them by clicking on the Position Lookup tab. If the employee is not in your department, switching to Position Lookup will result in blank panels. (Remember that the Job, Position, and Compensation panels for an employee not in your department will have "Restricted" stamped across them.)

If you have conducted a Position Lookup, there are two ways to switch back to Employee Lookup:

  1. If you are in Position Lookup and click on the Employee Lookup tab, you will see the screen of the last Employee you looked up. If you did not do an Employee Lookup before doing the Position Lookup, the Employee screens will be blank.

  2. If you are in Position Lookup and double click on the name of the Employee in the Position, you will be taken to the Employee's screen, BUT you must still click on an effective-dated row for all of the Employee's data to appear on all panels.
